The United Way of Milford is the recipient of a $125,000 grant from the Robin Hood Relief Fund for victims of Super Storm Sandy. The funds have been allocated to pay for the needs of Milford residents of limited financial means and may include home repairs and remediation; home contents replacement; rental, utility, and mortgage assistance; and emergency needs. Applications for assistance will be reviewed by the City of Milford’s Department of Human Services, 150 Gulf St., (203) 783-3253

Your opinion counts! The United Way of Milford is collaborating with 22 human services agencies on a survey to be completed by residents of Milford. The survey will assess the needs of the community and will be an important tool for grant applications and determining funding priorities. The survey is anonymous and must be completed by April 26. The United Way plans to collect 15,000 diapers during the month of March as part of the Healthy Baby Diaper Drive. Diapers will be distributed throughout the year through United Way agencies and the Department of Human Services. Diapers can be dropped off at the following collection points: United Way of Milford, Woodruff Family YMCA, ShopRite of Milford, Stop and Shop (East Town Road), Parsons (Rape Crisis Center and Probate Office), Ricoh, Turner Construction, Sandcastle Learning Center, and GE Credit Union. Monetary donations for future diaper purchases are also welcome. Checks can be made payable to United Way of Milford with “Diaper Drive” in the memo portion. Volunteers will also be collecting diapers outside of the Milford ShopRite on Saturday, April 13 and at Stop and Shop on May 19. Thank you for your support!

Join us on Sunday, June 9, for the Third Annual Ride for Hope, a 72-mile charity motorcycle ride to Woodbury, CT, to benefit the United Way of Milford, Rape Crisis Center of Milford, and the Milford Prevention Council. The Ride will begin and end at the Woodruff Family YMCA and includes lunch by Outback Steakhouse, music, and raffles. Tickets are $20 riders, $10 passengers if registered by 5/31; after 5/31 $30 riders and $15 passengers. Lunch only is $10. Register Today →
